Why I'm Running
I want to establish trust, truth, and transparency as fundamental values on the Board. As a dedicated healthcare practitioner, I have experience identifying sick systems. Like so many parents, I have growing concerns about what I've seen within the current WRDSB. I've been standing up and speaking out. Ultimately the problems within the board compromise the success and wellbeing of our kids.
I'm running for trustee because it's time we start nourishing an education system that teaches children how to think rather than what to think.
I vote for an education system where:
-
educators teach, parents parent and students thrive
-
our excellent educators have more freedom to focus on proven, core instructional areas and are equipped with the support required to foster student success
-
belonging is evident in every action - without the claim
-
communities know with confidence that today's children are our brighter future
A healthy system requires a board of trustees that fosters trust - where all are able to think and speak freely and express concerns without fear of being condemned or ostracized. We need a board where everyone is treated with dignity and valued as fellow human beings. We need to return the WRDSB to a full state of wellbeing.
My Commitment
to the Constituents
To Pay Attention
I’ll be paying attention to the concerns of all constituents and bringing attention to any information about what's occurring in our school systems in order to contribute to the decisions that are in the best interests of our students and their learning.
To Pay Attention

To Earn and Strengthen Trust
Life is busy. We don’t know up from down half the time and to have to address anything more than what we have in our day-to-day is more challenging than ever before.
I’ll be paying attention and bringing attention to any and all available information in order to contribute to the decisions that are in the best interests of our students and their learning.
To Pay Attention

I’m here to serve.
I know enough to know that I don’t know it all, but as you will quickly come to understand, I hold my word in high regard; I strive to do what I say and say what I mean. I hold myself accountable.
You can trust that there will be an open and safe place for your concerns and requests.
To Earn & Strengthen Trust
To Value all Perspectives

To Pay Attention

I appreciate that any one perspective is but a fragment of the whole picture.
I work diligently to hold space for new perspectives, changed perceptions, and evolved opportunities.
To Value All Perspectives
I am grateful to the
Region of Waterloo.
I appreciate the opportunities I experienced within an educational system that strived to work for every student. These experiences shaped me into who I am and how I now serve. I am driven to foster leadership and life-long learning within individuals, families, and communities.
A Vision
I want all students and teachers to be excited about school. Students should be taught how to think rather than what to think.
I will work for an educational system where the only agenda is to help learners thrive; strengthening individual skills, broadening collective contribution and nourishing the student’s purposes while maintaining a space of belonging and trust.
