Be Empowered To Make The Difference!

I'm Cristina, a second-generation Canadian of two sensational humans who moved to the Waterloo Region from Azores, Portugal. I was taught early on the importance of integrity and hard work; and, as much as I have offered a great amount of myself to the Tri-Cities, I also recognize that Waterloo Region has offered a great amount to me.
I appreciate the opportunities I experienced within an educational system that strived to work for every student. I value individual choice and responsibility, while also understanding and appreciating the criticality of an educational system that strengthens the unique purposes of each child.
Hello
My Dedication to Waterloo Region
I grew up in Cambridge, attending St. Francis Elementary School and then Glenview Park Secondary School, earning various academic, athletic and leadership achievements. I had the honour of being valedictorian and school president. I was gifted the opportunity to attend multiple leadership programs throughout my early educational years and then led and hosted national conferences in my post-secondary journey.
I attended the University of Western Ontario where I graduated with honours from the programs of Health Sciences and Nutritional Sciences. I then went on to my post-graduate studies through London Health Sciences Centre where I completed my Dietetic Internship with much of my training in several communities within the Waterloo Region.
I have had the honour of serving the community on a professional level for nearly 13 years. I have been the sole Dietitian in Long Term Care homes and earned the title of Certified Diabetes Educator, where I have been able to leave a lasting impact in the lives of many living with or who are at risk of chronic ailments. I have had the opportunity of growing with teams within Community Health Centers both in Cambridge and Kitchener, implementing critical components of the social determinants of health, and now own and operate a Dietetic practice within Waterloo, servicing Waterloo Region and Ontario. My expertise lies in the area of client actualization and desired behaviour change, meeting an individual where they are and guiding them in building their skills and confidence towards their vision of wellbeing.
My husband and I have lived in Kitchener and now have made Waterloo our home with our two sensational sons. As a parent and life partner, I value the power of being present. I believe this principle holds true for our schools as well.
As a healthcare professional, I pride myself on the work I do for the sake of the individual and community’s welfare. I am driven to foster leadership and life-long learning within individuals, families, and communities. I'm excited about the potential to serve Waterloo youth over the next four years in this capacity.
